Lieutenant General RK Anand, General Officer Commanding, Dakshin Bharat Area inaugurated a Sainik Welfare Centre at 1 EME Centre, Secunderabad. Major General N Srinivas Rao, General Officer Commanding, Telangana and Andhra Sub Area, Brigadier Manish Upadhyay, Deputy GOC, TASA, Brigadier Ajay Malik, Commandant, 1EME Centre, Colonel (Retd) P Ramesh Kumar, Director, Sainik Welfare and other senior army officials and a large number of Ex-servicemen of the area were present at the inauguration ceremony. The Welfare Centre was dedicated to the Ex-Servicemen of the area.
During the Ex-Servicemen Rally at AOC Centre on November 12, 2017, Lieutenant General RK Anand, General Officer Commanding, Dakshin Bharat Area interacted with veterans settled in the twin cities, wherein a request was received for establishing a Sainik Welfare Centre for conduct of welfare activities related to Ex-Servicemen. Towards that end, Major General N Srinivas Rao, General Officer Commanding, Telangana and Andhra Sub Area facilitated establishment of a Sainik Welfare Centre in 1 EME Centre.
The facilities available at the Sainik Welfare Centre include conduct of motivational lectures, seminars, re-settlement and employment exhibitions, place for social functions and get-together for veterans and their wards settled in Alwal, Lothkunta and Kowkur areas of Secunderabad. The Sainik Welfare Centre will also be open to the serving soldiers of station units located in Secunderabad. The area Ex-Servicemen thanked the military authorities for their prompt action in meeting their aspirations.
Later Lieutenant General RK Anand visited Married Accommodation Project (MAP) at Kowkoor, Secunderabad where 102 dwelling units that were inaugurated in November 2017 and occupied by the Jawans. He inspected the dwelling units and took stock of the facilities available in the project.
