Indian Coast Guard conducted Maritime Search and Rescue Workshop            

           

To address issues of maritime search and rescue, a one-day M-SAR workshop for Andhra Pradesh was organised at Headquarters, Coast Guard District No-6 (Andhra Pradesh) on 10 Nov 22. Various central and state agencies including stakeholders participated in the workshop. Presentation on Maritime Search and Rescue, SAREX-22 and impact of abandoned lost or discarded fishing gears (ALDGG) delivered. In addition, winching at sea by helicopter and a demonstration of life-saving & communication equipment were also organised during the workshop.

All stakeholders including the Zonal Director, Fisheries Survey of India actively participated in the workshop and shared their knowledge and experience in achieving the desired tangibles in the field of Maritime Search & Rescue.

Indian Coast Guard being the nodal agency for Maritime Search and Rescue in India, has always accorded the highest priority to the safety of fishermen and seafarers operating in the Indian Search and Rescue Region (ISRR). National Maritime Search and Rescue Board under the chairmanship of the Director General Indian Coast Guard (DGICG) has implemented various initiatives towards comprehensive preparedness, capacity development and collaboration for strengthening maritime SAR construct in our Search & Rescue Region.
