Kollam District Collector flags off Southern Kerala’s first Agnipath Recruitment Rally at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium, Kollam

Kollam District Collector Smt Afsana Perween IAS today (17 Nov 22) flagged off the Southern Kerala’s first Agnipath recruitment rally at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium, Kollam. Brigadier
AS Valimbe, DDG of Army recruitment Bangalore zone and Colonel Maneesh Bhola, Army Recruitment Officer of Trivandrum were present in the ceremony.  The Agniveer recruitment rally is till 24 Nov 22 for volunteer candidates from Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki districts of Kerala. Those who already registered online for the rally are only permitted to participate in the rally. The Rally is being held for enrolment of Agniveer General Duty, Agniveer Technical, Agniveer Tradesmen 10th Pass & 8th Pass, Agniveer Clerk/ Store Keeper Technical categories in the Army.

 

There is an overwhelming response to the Notification for conduct of the Agniveer rally with a total registration of 25367 candidates from the southern districts of Kerala. Out of these, 1767 candidates from Kottayam and Ernakulam districts were instructed to report on the first day of the rally.  A total of 904 candidates attended the rally and 151 of them cleared the initial physical fitness run. A total of 1931 candidates from Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts are expected to report for the rally tomorrow (on 18 Nov 22).  The candidates from Kollam district will participate in the rally on 19 & 20 Nov 22 and the candidates from Trivandrum and Alappuzha districts will attend the rally on 21 & 22 Nov 22. The physical and medical test procedures of Agnipath rally will conclude on 24 Nov 22. 

 

The candidates were first screened for their minimum eligible height criteria.  Attendance and document verification of those who cleared the height criteria were ensured before getting them inside the venue.  They were taken to the ground in batches of 200 each for physical tests.  The first part of the physical test was of running 1.6 Km within a time limit of 5 minutes
45 seconds. 60 marks are given to those who clear the running up to 5 minutes 30 seconds and
48 marks to those who clear the running between 5 minutes 31 seconds to 5 minutes 45 seconds. The candidates then had to clear a nine feet ditch long jump and a body balancing test over a zig zag beam.  These tests does not draw marks but all the candidates needs to qualify them. Thereafter, the candidates had to perform a minimum of 6 to maximum 10 pull ups.  The marks for the pull ups ranges from 40 marks for 10 pull-ups, 33 marks for 9 pull ups, 27 marks for 8 pull ups,
21 marks for 7 pulls ups and 16 marks for 6 pull ups.  After these tests, Candidates found fit in physical fitness tests conducted at the rally site are now undergoing pre- medical examinations. 
The premedical examination consists of taking height, weight and chest expansion measurement.  Those candidates who passes both the physical fitness tests and the pre-medical tests will be appearing for the medical fitness test by a team of Army Medical Officers on the next day. Candidates found physically and medically fit will then have to appear in a Common Entrance Examination (written test) for which admit cards will be provided to them. The Common Entrance Examination is scheduled to be held on 15 Jan 2023.  Candidates passing Common Entrance Examination and qualifying in merit will be dispatched to the designated Training Centres of Army for training. The entire process of recruitment in the Army is free, fair and transparent and candidates were cautioned not to fall prey to touts/ agents indulging in unfair activities. The Kollam District Administration is extending full and whole hearted support for the smooth conduct of the Recruitment Rally.

 

In addition to the Agnipath rally, Army Recruitment Rally for Soldier Technical Nursing Assistant / Nursing Assistant Veterinary (Sol Tech NA/NA Vet) and Junior Commissioned Officer (Religious Teacher) [JCO (RT)] for volunteer candidates from Kerala, Karnataka, Lakshadweep & Mahe states is also scheduled to be held at  Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium, Kollam from 26 to 29 Nov 22.  The last physical test for the rally will be held on 28 Nov 22 and last medical examinations will be held on 29 Nov 22.
