DDG Rect (MP & CHATTISGARH) Briefs Media on Change in Indian Army Recruitment Procedure for JCOs/ORs/Agniveers 

Brigadier Dependra Manrai, Deputy Director General (DDG) Recruiting (Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh) and Col Vikas Sharma, Director Recruiting, Army Recruiting Office Jabalpur addressed a Press Conference in Jabalpur today on modification to the recruitment procedure for Junior Commissioned Officer / Other Ranks / Aginveers in Indian Army. The changes will be effective from this year i.e. Recruiting Year 2023-24.

As before, the recruitment will still comprise of Three Phases, but from this year onwards, the Common Entrance Examination (CEE) will be conducted in the First Phase of the Recruitment Rally. Also, The Common Entrance Exam will be conducted Online. Only those candidates who qualify the Online Common Entrance Exam will be called for the Second Phase of the Rally during which the Physical Tests and the Medical Examinations will be conducted. The final phase will involve a Medical Examination of candidates on the rally site. This change is in sync with the emerging requirements of the Indian Army in 21st Century. 

The new system of recruitment is adopted to achieve the following objectives: -
(a) Transparency & Automation of entire recruitment process.
(b) Achieving balance between intellectual merit and physical fitness.
(c) Mitigation of difficulties & hardship faced by candidates.
(d) Provide equal opportunity to all deserving candidates for appearing in CEE.
(e) Mitigate the rally load thus enabling adequate and smooth conduct of rallies.

The candidates will have five choices of exam centre locations and they shall be allotted from within these choices. The exam locations in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Jabalpur, Sagar, Satna, Ujjain, Bhilai, Durg, Bilaspur and Raipur. Based on the candidates' responses, addition/reduction of centres will be made. In the Second Phase Army Recruitment Offices in both states will conduct recruitment rallies and medical examination of the selected candidates from June 2023 to March 2024. Once a candidate qualifies the Online Entrance Exam, they will be issued an e-admit card by the respective AROs giving out the date of the Rally and its venue. 

Rallies in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are likely to be held in two major halves. A few rallies will be in June/ July 2023 and balance in February/ March 2024. The final rally schedule will be intimated by 31 May 2023. Candidates are advised to carry out adequate preparation for the physical tests which may be conducted in hot weather and on hard surfaces.To clarify any doubts of the candidates, a helpdesk has also been established, details of which are available on Join Indian Army website.
