Assam Rifles Executes Rainwater Harvesting Project for Khaiverang Tang, Hungpung Village in Ukhrul Town, Ukhrul District

Somsai Battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) under Assam Rifles Civic Action Program (AR CAP) carried out the construction of a rainwater harvesting project in Khaiverang Tang, Hungpung village, Ukhrul on 25 February 2023.

Due to acute scarcity of water during the dry season in Khaiverang Tang, Hungpung village, Ukhrul, need for a project to harness and store rainwater was highlighted. As part of ARCAP, Somsai Battalion undertook the initiative for carrying out the construction of a pilot project of Rainwater Harvesting in Ukhrul town in order to address the water scarcity problem being faced by the local populace.

The village authorities have appreciated the efforts made by Assam Rifles and have urged to undertake more such initiatives for bringing more development in the area benefitting the community at large.
