“General Rawat India-Australia Young Officers Exchange Programme”

Combined delegation visits Air Force Academy

            A programme on “Joint Training and Orientation of Young Officers: India and Australia’ was conceptualized at the Ministry of Defence in 2021 to foster long-lasting professional and social linkages between the two nations.  The programme named “General Rawat India Australia Young Officers Exchange Programme’ (GRIAYOEP) was formally declared during the India-Australia Prime Ministers’ virtual summit in Mar 2022. A combined delegation of 30 Officers (15 Indian, 15 Australian) visited Air Force Academy Dundigal, Hyderabad on 02 Mar 2023, as part of the first phase of this programme.

            The programme was inaugurated on 02 Mar 2023 at Air Force Academy by Air Marshal BR Krishna, PVSM, AVSM, SC, ADC, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC) in the presence of Air Marshal B Chandra Sekhar, Commandant, Air Force Academy.

            The delegation of young Officers visited all the training faculties at the Air Force Academy and also interacted with the Instructors and Cadets undergoing training. The visit of the delegation to the Air Force Academy is the first step towards fostering long-lasting professional and social bonding between the two Armed Forces of India and Australia.
