Indian Navy Rescue Effort at Brahmapuram Waste Plant

The rescue effort towards break out of fire at Brahmapuram waste plant, Kochi continued on 07 Mar 23. Continuous firefighting operations are being undertaken by Southern Naval Command in coordination with the civil government authorities. As part of aerial firefighting, Large Area Aerial Liquid Dispersion Equipment (LAALDE) operations by Naval Sea King and Advance Light Helicopter (ALH) was undertaken on 06 and 07 Mar 23. Additionally Mi-17 ex-Indian Air Force also undertook water dropping using Bambi buckets from 1500 hr on 07 Mar 23. A multi-pronged approach using both ground and aerial firefighting is in progress to arrest the spread of fire. More than 20000 liters of water has been sprayed in the affected area on both these days. An all-out effort is in progress by the Southern Naval Command along with the district disaster management and state authorities to contain the situation at the earliest.
