National Safety Week Celebrations-2023 concluded at NSTL 

Naval Science & Technological Laboratory (NSTL), the premier naval research laboratory of Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), Visakhapatnam organized National Safety Week Celebrations-2023 from 04^th to 10^th March 2023, with the Theme “Our Aim – Zero Harm".  The week-long celebrations focused mainly on bringing safety awareness at work place.  Safety posters and various safety instructions were circulated to all work centres during this week.  Various programs viz., Safety walk, Safety Poster Competition, Quiz Competition, Fire Mock Drill, Training on fire fighting practices were conducted at NSTL during the week. 

Chief Guest on the concluding day is Dr. Y Sreenivas Rao, Outstanding Scientist & Director NSTL.  Sri G Srinivasa Rao, Retd. DGM, NTPC and Sri KTP Rudrappa, Senior Manager, RINL (Vizag Steel Plant) are Guest Speakers on the occasion.

In his speech, NSTL Director Dr. Y Sreenivas Rao stressed on the importance of safety at work place during his address and narrated various initiatives taken up to strengthen safety aspects at the laboratory. In his speech, Shri PVS Ganesh Kumar, Outstanding Scientist & Associate Director, NSTL emphasized on preventive measures to avoid hazards and also brought out various safety measures required.

Guest speaker Shri G. Srinivasa Rao gave presentation on “Safety Philosophy & Risk Management” and explained in detail the implementation of ISO45001-OHSMS (Occupational Health & Safety Management System) which is a fundamental part of an organisation’s risk management strategy.

Another Guest Speaker Shri KTP Rudrappa gave an insightful interactive session on “Behaviour-based Safety”.  Students from the academia participated with lot of enthusiasm in this interactive talk and gained knowledge on various safety aspects.

Shri N Ravi Kumar, Head (Safety), Shri R Srihari, Group Director (Safety), Shri BVSS Krishna Kumar, Associate Director and many employees of NSTL participated in the valedictory programme.  Representatives from BDL, RINL, NTPC and students from Government Polytechnic Colleges also attended the event.  The programme concluded with distributions of Prizes to the winners of safety competitions.
