Loktak Battalion of Assam Rifles Pays Tribute to Its Brave Heart

Loktak Battalion of Churachandpur Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony at Battalion Headquarters, Kangvai, District-Churachandpur (Manipur) on 15 March 2023 and homage was paid to the martyr by Commandant of this battalion along with other ranks.

Battalion organised the wreath laying ceremony for braveheart Rifleman Late Gamar Bahadur BK of the Battalion, who laid down his life during an ambush on Road Opening Party by inimical insurgents on 15 March 2013. He sustained multiple splinter injuries due to twin powerful IED blasts which took place at Moreh. Despite the injury, Rifleman Late Gamar Bahadur BK continued to ensure the safety of the Road Opening Party before being evacuated to unit MI Room where the individual succumbed to his injuries, laying down his life in supreme sacrifice for the Nation.

The Commandant, while laying the wreath, highlighted the fact that gallant actions by soldiers of the battalion has always been a motivating factor for the battalion to carryout relentless operations against anti-national elements. The event was attended by all ranks of the battalion who paid tribute to the braveheart Rifleman Late Gamar Bahadur BK and remembered his outstanding service to the nation. Battalion also prayed for the departed soul & observed two minutes of silence on the occasion. NOK of the martyred was also contacted by the unit personnel on the day of sacrifice.
