Change of Command at INHS Asvini

Surgeon Rear Admiral Vivek Hande, VSM took over as Commanding Officer, INHS Asvini on 16 March 2023 from Surgeon Rear Admiral Anupam Kapur, NM who will assume the appointment of Command Medical Officer, Western Naval Command.

Surgeon Rear Admiral Hande was commissioned on 24 December 1988 and is an alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune and the National Defence College. He is the senior-most Gastroenterologist and Physician in the Indian Navy and has served in several AFMS hospitals across the country. He is a keen academician and an experienced teacher and is affiliated to various medical universities. He has vast clinical and administrative experience in a career spanning three and a half decades. He was the Executive Officer, INHS Asvini prior to assuming his new appointment. He was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal in 2016 for meritorious service.
