Indian Army & Department of Agriculture, Jammu Organised Holistic Development Program at Bandowala in Akhnoor

Indian Army in association with Department of Agriculture, Jammu organised a Holistic Development Program at Bandowala for border villages of Pallanwala, Akhnoor Sector with an aim to increase awareness about various agricultural initiatives and schemes. The event was attended by approx 70 Farmers of the age group varying from 30-60 Years. Doctor Fareed Ahmed, Assistant Veterinary Surgeon, Samwan Block addressed the audience on various subsidies and financial benefits in carrying out diverse agriculture practices like Sheep Rearing, Horticulture, Pisciculture, Sericulture, Mushroom Cultivation etc. Modern agricultural practices like use of hybrid seeds, organic farming and crop diversification and various financial assistance programs in form of loans and subsidies available were highlighted. At the end of the event, representatives of Department of Agriculture, Jammu distributed Veterinary medicines, Booklets containing various government initiatives related to agriculture and animal husbandry. A total of 22 farmers registered themselves under various government schemes for subsequent earmarking of beneficiaries under these schemes. Shri Bahadur Singh, Sarpanch of Thangar Village expressed his gratitude to the Indian Army for enhancing out reach of government machinery to benefit small farmers of remote border villages in Pallanwala.
