1229 Persons of Nagaland Brought Back Home by Assam Rifles From Manipur

Many people from Nagaland are stranded in Manipur amidst the undergoing tense situation in Manipur. In order to evacuate these people safely, Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) undertook 'OPERATION KOHIMA CALLING' in two phases.

In Ist phase 676 individuals and during IInd phase 553 individuals were evacuated. The Ist phase of operation was led by Brig Ved Beniwal, Deputy Inspector General of IGAR (North), rich in experience of Manipur and Insurgency situations, whereas during the IInd phase Colonel Umesh Sati, Commandant, 1 Assam Rifles led the evacuation. 

IInd phase of evacuation included, 47 Konyak Girls from Yoripok, Thoubal have been evacuated.

Rescue team went to the interiors of Thoubal District to extricate these girls. They were all working on hourly wages basis in a Veneer factory.
