National Technology Day (NTD) is Celebrated on 11th May Every Year in Commemoration

National Technology Day (NTD) is celebrated on 11th May every year in commemoration of the successful testing of nuclear weapons in Pokhran in 1998. The theme of NTD this year is ‘School to startups-igniting young minds to innovate’. Defence research laboratory (DRL) DRDO Tezpur  also celebrated 25th  year of  NTD 2023 with great enthusiasm and fervour on 12th May, 2023. Maj Gen Dinesh Hooda VSM, COS HQ 4 Corps graced the occasion as  chief guest. The program was started with welcome address by Director, DRL  Dr. Dev Vrat Kamboj who aptly described  the significance of the National Technology Day. He encouraged the students to be motivated and inspired in the field of science and technology for newer innovation.

 This was followed with NTD-2023 oration by Dr Ankit, Scientist, DRL Tezpur who described bio-fortification of pearl millet through alternate sulphur feeding strategies. For this oration Dr Ankit was conferred with a commendation certificate & medal on behalf of Secretary Department of Defence R&D and Chairman, DRDO. To commemorate NTD-2023, science model competition and quiz competition were organised on 10th May, 2023 among the school students of Sonitpur district, Assam. The students were briefed about DRDO and DRL activities by scientists of the laboratory.  The chief guest also addressed  the august gathering and motivated students to take keen interest in science and technology to pursue careers in R&D. In the end, prizes were distributed to the winners of the competition.
