Sainik School Nagrota Celebrates 54th Raising Day

Turning another glorious leaf in history, Sainik School Nagrota celebrated its 54th Raising Day on 22 Aug 23. It was on this day in 1970, the school was inaugurated by the then Def Minister of India, Late Shri Babu Jagjivan Ram. Maj Gen Shailendra Singh, SM, Chief of Staff, HQ 16 Corps & Chairman Local Board of Administration presided over the grand function as Chief Guest. A spectacular Ceremonial Parade was held at the School Parade Ground. The Chief Guest reviewed the parade led by Cadet ArushVerma,  School Cadet Captain and marching contingents. After witnessing an impressive March Past by the cadets, in his address, the Chief Guest congratulated the officers, staff and cadets of the School on this momentous occasion and exhorted everyone to put in their best efforts to achieve the primary objectives of the school. He also commended the school for producing excellent all round results in academics, sports and other spheres of activities. The Chief Guest gave a special word of appreciation for Cadet Vamika, the first girl cadet to clear SSB interview from the School and encouraged all Girl Cadets to aim for career in Armed Forces. He further highlighted that the legacy of the school is not built by the vast campus, modern infrastructure or the sprawling playfields but on the unwavering resolve and commitment of each and every member of Nagrotian family towards achieving the primary aim. After the Ceremonial Parade, the General Officer, went around the exhibits on ‘Chandrayan-3’, ‘The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Bill 2023’, ‘The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita Bill 2023’, ‘The Bharatiya Sakshya Bill 2023’ and various other art projects displayed by the school cadets. His interaction with the Cadet Appointments was thoroughly motivating. Further he presented Parchment and Commendation Card to Mr S Rajagopalan, Senior Master Sainik School Nagrota.The celebration of 54th Raising Day of the School included various other activities like Cricket Match between Staff and Cadets, Volleyball Match, Tug of War, Fun Games for children of CPS and families and an exciting Cultural Extravaganza by different houses. Staff families and Children also participated in Talent Show. Captain (IN) AK Desai, Principal gave away prizes to the winners of various competitions organized on this day and congratulated each member of Nagrotian family
