Assam Rifles Under the Aegis of HQ IGAR (South) Organised a Wreath Laying Ceremony on 22 Aug 2023 for RFN/GD (Late) Chandra Sekhar Singh

On 17 Aug 1994, coln str 03 JCOs and 41 soldiers of Assam Rifles was performing Road Opening  duty on the Chassad - Imphal road. At approx 1000h, while carrying out search, the troops came under heavy volume of fire from insurgents, which was immediately retaliated with fire from Rifle & Mortar. In the ensuing gun fight with the insurgents, Rfn/GD Late Chandra Sekhar Singh sustained  gunshot wound and succumbed to his injuries on 22 Aug 1994, thereby laying down his life as supreme sacrifice for the Nation.
