AWWA Day Celebration by Northern Comd

AWWA Day Celebration by Northern Comd

Army Wives Welfare Association  (AWWA) for short is an association that works to support and augment the official welfare within the Indian Army, focusing primarily on the welfare of families, children and widows of all ranks including those of retired personnel of the Army.  It is aptly called the invisible hand that shapes the punch of the Indian Army. The association was officially registered as a Welfare Society with the Registrar of Societies, Delhi Administration on 23 Aug 1966.  Since its inception AWWA has grown in its scope and reach and today it stands proud as one of the largest NGOs in India. The run up events which included Health check ups, lectures on preventive health, Entrepreneurs workshop, HunarHaat, Veer Nari felicitation and performance by Cultural Troupe from Ministry of Culture culminated in the commemorative event on the theme “On the Path to transformation”, presided over by Mrs Sunita Dwivedi, the Regional President AWWA, Northern Command.  She presented the AWWA Excellence and Polaris awards to the achievers in the field of Women Empowerment, community outreach, education of women & children, green initiative and health & wellness. Mrs Sunita Dwivedi interacted with station ladies and exchanged thoughts for a better and healthy future ahead. She urged them to carry on with the indomitable spirits of Nari Shakti and keep the flag of Indian Army flying high.
