Static Display of Fighter Aircrafts Thrills Huge Crowds
As part of 40th Raising Day Celebrations of Headquarters Southern Air Command and a prelude to 91st Air Force Day Celebration, HQ SAC organised a grand static display of its modern aircraft and systems for general public at Air Force Station Thiruvananthapuram on 26 Aug 23.
Huge crowds witnessed the static display of various IAF aircrafts and equipment such as Light Combat Aircraft, SU-30 MKI, Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), Avro aircraft, Rohini Radar, IGLA and Garud Special Forces team.
For the first time, Powered Hang Glider (PHG) was also brought to Thiruvananthapuram and the school children who won the quiz competition conducted by HQ SAC on 14 Jul 23 were given air experience in the Powered Hang Glider. These children alongwith five cadets of No. 01 Kerala Air Squadron NCC were felicitated by Air Mshl B Manikantan AVSM VM, AOC-in-C SAC.
A scintillating performance by Air Force Band was also organized at the Shanghumugham beach. All events were open to the public. In addition, Brahmos Aerospace Ltd Thiruvananthapuram also displayed its equipment during the show. These events were organised as a special gift to the people of Thiruvananthapuram on the auspicious occasion of Onam. The events were also aimed to display the prowess of the Indian Air Force and motivate the youth to join the Air Force.
