Indian Coast Guard Rescued a Distressed Fishing Boat & 09 Crew From Bay of Bengal

Indian Coast Guard Ship Ayush rescued a distressed fishing boat IFB Ganapathi Perumal (Reg No IND-TN-02-MM-2591) along with 09 crew from 240 miles northeast of Chennai. The boat along with the crew was towed by CGS Ayush and finally handed over safely to the Fisheries Department at Vishakhapatnam today. Fishing Boat Ganapathi Perumal ventured for fishing from Kasimedu harbour on 24th Aug 2023. The Boat suffered a machinery breakdown and continued drifting since 01 Sep 2023. A Surface/Air coordinated search by Coast Guard ships and aircraft located the boat at 240 Miles from Chennai. MRCC Chennai requested nearby Marchant vessel MV Jag Radha to monitor the boat till the arrival of the Coast Guard Ship. ICGS Ayush arrived at the location early hours of 06 Sep 2023, provided necessary logistic, Medical assistance and towed the boat to the nearest port Vizag.
