        Indian Coast Guard : International Coastal Clean Up (ICC)-2023 on 16 Sep 23 

Indian Coast Guard has been at the forefront of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan activities. In consonance, the International Coastal Cleanup Day-23 was organized and conducted on 16 September 2023 at numerous sea beaches along the Gujarat Coast by Indian Coast Guard units under the Regional Headquarters at Gandhinagar. The event has been a successful platform to promote the message of ‘Safer and Cleaner beaches’. Accordingly ICG District Headquarters-1 (South Gujarat, Daman & Diu) and ICG District Headquarters-15 (North Gujarat) and ICG  units under them, ushered public participation to achieve objectives of the event which is conducted annually on third Saturday of every September along Indian Coastline under the aegis of Indian Coast Guard. The enthusiastic and widespread participation by the future of our nation viz. the children and young generation, to carry forward the message and efforts of this nationwide campaign was a special highlight in the event

The International Coastal Clean Up Day is conducted in various parts of the world in third week of September every year under the aegis of United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and South Asia Co-operative Environment Programme (SACEP) in the South Asian Region. The Indian Coast Guard has been coordinating this activity in India since 2006.

ICG District Headquarters-1 conducted the event at Chowpati beach, Porbandar. Shri KD Lakhani, IAS, District Collector & DM was the Chief Guest for the event and a total of 1000 participants from Indian Coast Guard, Navy, State Police, NCC, Sashastra Seema Bal, Gujarat Maritime Board, Municipal Corporation and children from various schools participated in the event. 
40 students of Rashtriya Raksha Universuty, Ahmedabad along with faculty specially travelled to participate in the event.

ICG District Headquarters-15 organised a mass beach cleanship drive from Okha light house to Pawan Chakki. A total of approximately 300 participants comprising students from across all School at Okha, Volunteers from various Central, State and Corporate sectors participated in the event.

Additionally ICG units at Vadinar, Mundra, Jakhau, Veraval and Pipavav  carried out beach cleanship drives at local level with participations of various govt organisations and schools.
