National Unity Day ( Rashtriya Ekta Diwas)
National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) is celebrated on 31 October to mark the birth anniversary of Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who had a major role in the political integration of India. Introduced in 2014 by GOI to provide an opportunity to re-affirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity, and security of our country.
On this auspicious occasion of National Unity Day, Madras Engineer Group and Centre, Bengaluru organised “Unity Run” for all ranks and families & Children followed by the Pledge to spread the message of unity amongst fellow countrymen. More than thousand persons including families and enthusiastic children participated in the event
The participants were administered the pledge for unity. They were also enlightened on the stellar role played by Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, popularly known as the ‘Iron Man of India’ in persuading over 500 princely states to accede to the independent Indian Union despite several hurdles. The young children were exhorted to imbibe the qualities and indomitable spirit of Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for the unity of India.
