Red Shield Division Conducts Braveheart Major Durga Malla Gorkha Cup at Jagun, Tinsukia (Assam) on 29 Oct 2023

Red Shield Division of Indian Army, in association with All Assam Gorkha Student Union Tirap-Jagun Regional Committee organised the Braveheart Major Durga Malla Gorkha Cup Football Tournament at Jagun, Tinsukia District, Assam on 29 Oct 2023.

The final matches were played between Alfa FC vs Eleven Tiger (Boys Category) and Jagun FC vs Rampur Sunshine (Girls Category) clubs. The matches were extremely competitive and all teams showcased the young talent in front of huge crowd of over 10,000 spectators. In the end Eleven Tiger and Rampur Sunshine teams were crowned the champions of the tournament in their respective categories.

Prior to the matches, the Assam Rifles Battalion of Red Shield Division also organised the Closing Ceremony encompassing varied cultural performances including a Pipe Band & Jazz Band Display, Khukri Dance, Nepali and Bihu performances. The tournament was played over a period of 24 days during the festive season giving the local communities great joy and building bonds between them and the security forces. Indian Army hopes to conduct more such events in future.
