Indian Army Extends Medical Assistance and Distributes Relief Material in Manipur

In response to the ongoing crisis in the region Red Shield Division of Indian Army, extended assistance to the needy communities in Manipur. The population residing in areas affected by violence, especially on the fringes, have been enduring tremendous hardships. Thayong village, located in the Tangkhul Naga region, is a prime example, where the lack of medical facilities had been a source of distress for the local population.

Acknowledging the plight faced by these locals, the Red Shield Division undertook the initiative of providing crucial medical aid to the villagers of Thayong. This remote village, situated in an area marked by ethnic tensions, had limited access to medical care facilities. The primary goal of the medical camp was to deliver essential healthcare services, with special attention given to the elderly and children living in these isolated regions.

Over 200 villagers from Thayong and its environs benefitted from the day-long medical camp, scheduled on a Sunday to ensure maximum number of patients receive essential medical attention. During the camp, all patients underwent thorough medical examinations and were provided with essential medicines.

In a continuation of their unwavering commitment of assisting local communities, troops of the Red Shield Division also provided relief material and medical aid to internally displaced people in S Kotlian of Churachandpur District in Manipur on 30 October 2023. This initiative aimed to address the essential needs of the Internally Displaced People in the area of S Kotlian. A dedicated team of medical staff under the supervision of Indian Army Medical Officers and Assam Rifles organised a medical camp and distributed much-needed relief material, benefiting 104 people.

The selfless service of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles received high praise from the local populace. Such noble initiatives reinforce the commitment of the Security Forces to stand with the needy and distressed people of Manipur and their continuous efforts to restore peace and bring normalcy to the state.
