Active Participation of NSTL in “SCDPM 3.0”
Naval Science & Technological Laboratory(NSTL), the premiere naval research laboratory of Defence Research & Development Organisation(DRDO) in Visakhapatnam has actively participated in prestigious “Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters (SCDPM 3.0)”, an initiative envisioned by the Hon’ble Prime Minister for making Swachhta “everyone’s business”, during 02-31 October 2023 with tremendous enthusiasm and determination.
NSTL has organized numerous activities at its campus in Visakhapatnam with voluntary participation of all employees of NSTL. The following are the events and activities conducted during this Special Campaign.
Cleanliness Campaigns:
A large number of cleanliness campaigns were organized at various locations of residential and technical area in NSTL campus during SCDPM 3.0 with an overall objective of improving Swachhata and providing a clean hygienic environment to the NSTL employees.
Beautification of Office Complex and Residential Complex:
More than 500 sapling plantations were carried out around office complex for beautification apart from special cleaning drives and better organization of parking space. Several dengue prone areas in residential area were completely cleaned and saplings were planted.
Weeding out of Files:
Approximately 9,500 old records were reviewed, 8117 files were identified and segregated for weeding out in order to free up roughly 10,000 sq. ft. of useful office space.
Disposal of Scrap:
Unserviceable furniture and other scrap material were identified and segregated for disposal to free up roughly 11,000 sq. ft. of usable office space.
Mechanical waste, IT Waste, E-Waste and Plastic waste was collected from residential and technical area from which revenue will be generated to the government exchequer.
Pest Control:
Fumigation and pesticide spray was carried out at regular intervals at NSTL complex including the residential area during the campaign.
Dr. Abraham Varughese, Outstanding Scientist & Director NSTL has expressed happiness over the enthusiastic support received from the employees as well as their family members. SCDPM 3.0 has been successfully driven by Sri ChV Satya Srinivas, Scientist-G & Group Director(Works & Estate) and Lt. Col. Rahul Dixit, Division Head(Works & Estate).
