Lt Col Robert Ta  Memorial Badminton Tournament

The second edition  of  badminton tournament conducted to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of the brave heart Lt Col Robert TA,  was inaugurated by Mrs Chingpal Rangnamel wife of Late Lt Col Robert TA and Commander Senapati Brigade as a tribute to the martyr at Rikhumai Indoor Badminton Hall, Senapati.

The Tournament is being organised by the Red Shield Division of Indian Army from 13 to 16 Nov 2023. A total of 110 men and 20 women are participating in 11 different categories.

Lt Col Robert TA was the first officer from Maram Naga community to get commissioned as an officer in the Engineer Regiment of the Indian Army in 2004. Lt Col Robert laid down his life in the highest traditions of Indian Army while leading a snow clearance expedition team in treacherous and challenging mountains of North Sikkim on 14 May 2020.

An audio visual showcasing Lt Col Robert's life was also shown which  emotionally charged locals and they were deeply touched with the Army's gesture of acknowledging its fallen soldier's supreme sacrifice.
